The Secret Lives of Female Chimpanzees

Chimpanzees are amazing creature and our closest living relatives, sharing more than 98 percent of our genetic blueprint. Humans and chimps are also thought to share a common ancestor who lived some four to eight million years ago.

Chimps some marvelous behavioral patterns, however female chimps are thought to be more stagnant in their behavior with their only concerns of mating and caring for their offspring. Is there more than what meets the eye.

Dr. Melissa Emery Thompson talks about the social behavior of female chimpanzees and their role in their chimp communities. Dr. Melissa also uproot the many stigmas of female chimps being the lesser of the their male counterparts and parallels this stigma with the social injustice done to women today.
