The 2009 ISTA Conference Committee is looking forward to an information-packed and fun-filled fall Science Education Conference. It will be held at the Pere Marquette Hotel and the nearby Peoria Civic Center, November 12-14, 2009. The theme is “The Evolution of Science Education…from so Simple a Beginning”. The keynote presentation by Dr. Richard Duschl of Pennsylvania State University will address how science education has evolved in the 20th and 21st Centuries through various reforms that shaped what and how we teach science.

Exhibitors will include textbook and learning materials publishers, technical equipment manufacturers, science equipment suppliers, museums, government agencies, non-profit educational organizations, service suppliers, and professional organizations. BIOTECHNOLOGY is highlighted this year with the appearance of the large MONSANTO MOBILE TRAINING UNIT and the Richland Community College BIOENERGY DISPLAY TRAILER.

Over 120 technical sessions and workshops are arranged in 16 tracks by teaching disciplines, grade levels, and administrative topics. Hands-on, classroom-ready, and teacher-tested materials are emphasized and the selection of presentations is based on previous evaluations.
