  3. It’s great that the Chicago Council on Science and Technology is featuring the issue of water. The midwest region is endowed with a seemingly abundant supply of fresh water. However, less than 1% of the Great Lakes water supply is renewable on a yearly basis and aquifers around the region are already drying up. Meanwhile, population growth and expanding development will increase water demand into the future. Public awareness is an important aspect of working towards a water management stategy that is sustainable. Thanks for the great program!
